Joint Operation Led by Quwat Dira’ Al-Watan and the Giants Brigades Results in Major Drug Seizure
Police authorities in Al-Mudharabah and Ras Al-Arah District of Lahj Governorate announced that a joint security operation led by Quwat Dira’ Al-Watan and the Giants Brigades successfully intercepted a boat carrying approximately half a ton of hashish off the district’s coastline near Bab al-Mandab.
According to security sources, the operation took place approximately 15 nautical miles from shore following an armed confrontation between security forces and a group of suspected drug traffickers aboard the vessel. The operation resulted in security forces taking control of the boat, seizing the narcotics, and apprehending several individuals suspected of involvement in the smuggling operation.
Police confirmed that the seized drugs have been secured and the suspects detained pending the completion of legal procedures. Authorities indicated that the smuggling operation was motivated by financial gain and that the suspects were apprehended while committing the offense.
The operation forms part of ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and strengthen maritime security in the strategically important coastal areas of southwestern Yemen.
